What's Not to LOVE about February?

We are getting ready for the testing season.  My kiddos have so many too many tests for their little 8 year-old brains.  We have our County Benchmark coming up that they say is for school purposes only, but always manage to pit us up against the Best schools in the county.  My littles do not have the same schema as the other children, but we preserver!  I have to build their schema on top of everything else on the curriculum map!
After we finish Benchmarks we have the Georgia Milestone Blitz and test online this year.  We round the corner to the finish line with a SLO - Student Learning Objective test.  For third graders, they take a Reading, Math and Science tests.  I teach Math and Science so we will be teaching all the way up to the last three days of school!!!
We are so busy in Science I thought I would share a few more of my units.
This HEAT UNIT was a lot of fun in the classroom.  We made mini smores with toothpicks and marshmallows, teddy grahams and chocolate!  They adored that day!!!  I have put the science experiments in the unit and also listed them separately.
The unit on rocks was a lot more in depth than I originally thought it would be.  I found a few edible science experiments and included them in the unit!  You have to engage the learner somehow, so why not through food!!!
Our unit on soil was very hands on.  I had gathered soils samples, sand and clay from all over.  We made stations around the room and really explored the different types of soil!

So check them out for your self at TpT.  I have lots of pics and so far the reviews have been great!!

Happy Science Teaching and here is hoping for the best with all of the upcoming tests!

Happy New Year 2016

I am so excited for the new year!  It is hard to believe we are half way through the school year!  I have been working hard on completing a Science Unit for 3rd graders in Georgia!  Most of them can be used for all 3rd grade curriculum, but the Habitats unit is specifically for Georgia!

The first unit is Magnets!  My students loved exploring with magnets.
Inside the 30+ page unit you will find:
• 2 introductory labs
• Magnetic Stations (4) – Foldable book for documentation
• 2 Interactive Notebook foldables
• What are Magnets? Take Home Booklet
• Vocabulary – Interactive Notebook Page
• Text Features – Reading Passage
• Attract/Repel quiz
• Earth is a Magnet Quiz
• Final Quiz
• I Have-Who Has vocabulary cards (18)
• Word Wall

I love this FlipBook!  It has so many good details they need to know!  My original intent was to put it in their Science Interactive notebook, but they loved reading it so much I sent them home in HW folders.

Another favorite is the Text Feature page!  It has several images to explain repel and attract.  I love incorporating ELA and Science whenever I can!!

Martin Luther King - Unit for MLK Day

I am so excited about my newest unit - Martin Luther King.
I took the text feature page that is a favorite and made a third grade version!  It is a wonderful way to incorporate ELA and Social Studies content!  I added all the materials I have used in the classroom for bulletin boards and timelines and dressed them up with cute clipart.

I hope you enjoy this unit as much as my students have!

Is it Too Early for Christmas?

Wal-Mart does not think so...
I am ready for glitter and fun in my classroom!  Every year I read the Polar Express and LUV watching their eyes light up and gasp at the end when I pull out my red and white striped box with a bell inside.  It never fails!  Every year, I think "this group doesn't believe," and sure enough... They gasp.
I cry.
Every single year!
One time I even videoed them to show my husband and own children.  It is truly magical!

Here is the Christmas Packet that I love using during this season!

Baby Names

No, not for me...... a coworker!

I just love how true this really is...

Teacher have to think long and hard about the baby names they choose!
I can think of several names I hope my own children do not choose to name my grandchildren!

Happy Tuesday!

TpT Adding a Photo to your Teacher-Quote

I searched the internet to find out how everyone was posting a photo to their TpT page.
I found a good resource that told me to upload a picture

Afterwards, I needed to use this code to embed it:

Getting Ready For Valentine's Day

I have tried to put as many standards as possible in the Valentine's Day packet.  I have included compound words, reflexive pronouns, contractions, ABC order and several more.  I really wanted to include as much as I could.  I love setting up centers around the holiday theme!

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Are you ready for MLK day?  In Georgia, we get the day off from school as a holiday.  I made a packet to help teach some of the Social Studies standards that go along with Martin Luther King.
I made a timeline and a text feature page that are very helpful for review!

Last February I never dreamed my measurement packet would do as well as it has!  I knew I liked it and it satisfied what I needed for my classroom, but little did I know so many others needed a supplemental resource as well!

What do I love...

I love having an organized classroom.  I really love a quiet room in the mornings when the students are coming in and unpacking their backpacks.  I like to have something on the board ready to go when they walk in.  I am very lucky I have four early arrivers that usually set the tone for the classroom!

Here are some of my favorites for third quarter.

Happy 2015!

It's a NEW YEAR!
I am excited about the new year!  I have never been good at New Years Resolutions, but I am going to work on a few goals this year!

The first goal is to focus on my Teachers Pay Teachers BUSINESS!  I had a great first year and feel if I put some effort into it, it could really be a GREAT business!  Fortunately I have a "numbers" husband and he has helped me see the potential!

So, with that said I have posted a few products over the past few days!  Check them out!!!

Trick or Treat!

This year I had the privilege of having a student teacher from LaGrange College, Miss Lindsay Munson.  My students loved her and so did I !

We had a fun Halloween! She was a Bad Case of Stripes and I was Thing One.
Don't you love the BLUE Pixie Cut!
